"Shit!! What the hell!! Cable connection is not working , it is already 9 PM, time for my favorite reality show. This time I am not going to pay those b#&tards for the cable. This is the second time this is happening in past month. I wonder who will be eliminated today, I am sure that b$@ch is going down or may be the long hair guys should be gone, I don't like him either".
Don't worry I am myself not able to understand the point how the elimination will affect the life of person speaking these words. But I am sure the person is borrowing attributes which any parents would have never wanted to be present in their kid even during the period when Fred Flintstone was busy rubbing stones in the cave.I am yet here again with another strong opinion about the so called reality shows being aired day and night over multiple channels all over the world. Before I start talking or according to many "taking out my frustration" :) I would like to state following facts about reality television:-
FACT1: The beginning of reality television can be traced back to the early days of 1940s. Allen Funt’s "Candid Camera" went on air in the year 1948 and portrayed for the first time reactions of common man to humorous pranks. It was followed by Ted Mack's talent search show "Original Amateur Hour". These shows telecasted competitions among amateur competitors and for the first time the element of public voting began. This involvement of the ordinary public with these shows gave rise to the popularity of reality television.
FACT2:These shows provide artists a good platform to get noticed and help people to win money and fame.Take example of our "SHUT UP n BOUNCE" girl Shilpa Shetty who went to BIG BROTHER.
FACT3: According to media person Tom Alderman "Reality TV can only be described as Shame TV because it uses humiliation as its core appeal".
Who is Tom Alderman??I have also never heard this name before but I support his views when I watch most of the reality shows. Not in full agreement though I really enjoy the dance competitions, singing reality shows and any show that is really honing the natural abilities of a talent. They are really worth watching. कृपया ध्यान दें!! चांटा खाना और गाली देने को किसी भी तरह की सक्षमता में न गिना जाए(Please see!! do not count "getting slapped" and "using abusive language" as any form of talent).
In dance reality shows and singing competitions also I tend to find the occasions because of which I start doubting about the element of reality.Situations where children are made to cry or sometime even their parents, two judges fighting on screen.अरे भाई इतनी दिक्कत है तो खुद नाच के दिखा दो!Though this blog is not questioning the reality of any reality show because I don't need any answer for that.:).
"इस दुनिया में दो प्रकार के प्राणी हैं !! पहले जो बस किसी की बेइज्जती देख के हस्ते हैं , दुसरे जो इस बात पे हस्ते हैं की चलो इनको एक गधा मिल गया और वो मैं नहीं हूँ " ( There are two kinds of people in this world , First who will simply laugh at You when You are humiliated, Second who laugh because they are optimist and are grateful to the fact that they are not chosen to be humiliated ). When I laugh while watching the some of the reality shows I am actually thinking in my mind "Thanks God!! I am not as talented as this person who just got slapped on TV". So this laughter is what makes the difference amongst the people who watch these shows. This laughter will let You know what influence these shows is having on oneself, whether the person is responding positively to the core appeal of these shows or is he appreciating the fact that he is not the part of the drama.During schooldays "दूरदर्शन एक वरदान या एक अभिशाप"(Television, a blessing or a curse) was the most favorite topic for essay writing for most people like me who used to become numb in language papers. The common point for both the aspects was that television has the power to mold minds. Nothing more left to be said after the italicized statement.
Done writing now Can anyone tell me who will win this year's WrestleManiaXXVII.?? :)I am really saving my excitement for it. Wait! are You thinking WrestleManiaXXVII, this preaches violence.Yes they do but You know me :P. But don't worry they have provisions which says "Please do not perform this at School or Home!" and they have even accepted the fact that they hire trained professional to perform the stunts. :).My message:-Keep watching reality shows and keep laughing!!
**Please see the three facts mentioned has been taken from http://www.buzzle.com/articles/facts-on-reality-television.html. I have even hyper linked on the first one.
Marriages/Divorce have also been included in the curriculum of the so called "Real/UnReal"-ity shows.
ReplyDeleteThe day is not far away when human reproduction will also be covered under the same umbrella.
This time you came with bit of research ;)....very true ..even unreal tournament(UT) seemed more real and entertaining....
ReplyDeleteI am wondering that many formats of tv shows have appeared and perished, why not this ? Have a finally got the audience by balls ?
ReplyDeleteGood point that we can laugh about it. Laughter dispels the cast thrown over us superbly.
But big question remains, what kind of man and woman will grow after considering only "intellectual fodder" they get is this reality show
What is unreal tournament
